At Blacks Vets our veterinary surgeon, Oscar Sanchez Recuero, is celebrating exam success which will further boost patient care at our vet practices in the West Midlands.
Oscar has completed his postgraduate certificate in diagnostic imaging at the University of Chester. His work involves routine consultations, inpatient care and imaging referrals, said: “More than the actual qualification, it was what I learned studying for the certificate that is of real benefit to our patients.
“The knowledge acquired and the skills I developed, alongside my colleagues’ support and help, helped me answer questions in a way that I couldn't do before, enhancing my diagnostic tools and making me more useful in inpatient care.”
Oscar started his career by graduating from the University of Leon in Spain in 2014, then worked in Barcelona before moving to the UK in 2017 to work at a practice in Devon. He then moved to Birmingham and has worked in different practices in the West Midlands before joining Blacks Vets.
Oscar added: “The range of conditions that can be diagnosed through diagnostic imaging is vast, from tumours and internal bleeding to more tricky conditions like thromboembolism or hyperparathyroidism.
“Being able to pinpoint and sample them without a general anaesthetic is incredibly useful.”
Kate Slack, group nursing manager at Blacks Vets, said: “This is a great achievement by Oscar who is a key team member in the Blacks Vets family.”
