Vicky Bell – Veterinary Nurse

May is Veterinary Nursing Awareness Month, a whole month dedicated to raising awareness of the veterinary nursing profession and the vital role they play in animal care and treatment.

Vicky is one of our dedicated Veterinary Nurses here at Blacks Vets and she kindly took time out to tell us about life as a vet nurse.

How long have you been a Vet Nurse and what route did you follow to qualify?

I have been qualified for 12 years and I went to Rodbaston college.

What attracted you to a career as a Veterinary Nurse?

I knew as soon as I left school that I wanted to be a vet nurse. I love animals and couldn’t think of a better career choice.

What is the most rewarding thing about being a Vet Nurse?

The most rewarding part for me is the loving cuddles our patients give us. We want to make their visit to us as stress-free as possible and we know how scary it can be away from their human parents.

What are the best things about working for Blacks Vets practice?

We have such a supportive team. Everyone cares for each other like a big family. We celebrate, cry and laugh together and I don’t think there is anything better than that.

Thank you, Vicky, for sharing your story.
